While many rave about TripAdvisor and its honest take on travel, some are not convinced that all reviews on the site are 100% accurate, and they would be correct. User reviews of the site can be mixed, though.

These user reviews can go into great detail about important things you need to know, like the condition of the rooms, customer service, kid friendliness, the best time of year to go, and other essentials. TripAdvisor has a great bank of user reviews for almost every hotel, tour, car rental and flight it has on its site. The best difference is the heart of TripAdvisor: User reviews.

In addition to the basics, it offers pricing information from all the other travel sites around the web, starting with the lowest price. This is where TripAdvisor starts to differ. It includes information including location, amenities and other information about the hotel/tour/rental. Same goes for anything else you search, from car rentals to cruises. You go to the site, type in what you are searching for, like hotels in Miami, and a list of recommended hotels will pop up. While it offers the same search functionality as other travel sites, its huge bank of user reviews and other extras make it stand out from the rest. TripAdvisor, on the other hand, breaks the mold a little when it comes to travel site. Generally, most of these sites end up being very similar. With this in mind we started designing different colourways and themed maps, turning into a full and ever growing Scratch Map range.
Scratch Maps are intended to be hung on your wall to serve as a reminder of your good times travelling, a way to plan your next adventure, and also provide a talking point when your friends are round. We needed to devise a map that you could somehow record your travels on, not just with a pen, something more interesting than that but equally personal and unique.Īt the time we were working on another product that used a foil method similar to scratch cards.why not cover the map in foil, which you then scratch off on the areas you've travelled to? Bingo!Īfter months of designing, testing and finding just the right materials and printing methods, we hit on the right formula and the Original Scratch Map (the white and gold one!) was born.
When discussing which places people had been to previously it became clear that something was needed to help people remember where they had been. It started back in 2009 after a period of adventure and talking to other people who were on their travels.
